Surah Saad (Ṣād) | Chapter 38 (17-41)

  • Origin Ottoman period, Istanbul. 


This Qur’an folio is hand-written by a Qur’an scribe. It was written in the Muslim calendar year of 1200 Hijri, approximately, making it over 200 years old.

The page is made out of papyrus and the Arabic is written with black ink and the ends of the ayahs are illumined with real gold gild. There is a red coloured border, with subtle red letter highlights, and some gold ink bleed into the first line. This page has floral design along the left hand side border. 

The size of the Qur’an page is around 12cm x 17.5cm, approx, and has Qur’an verses written on both sides.

This page has verses of Surah Saad, Chapter 38 (17-41). There is mention of Prophets Daud (a) and Suleyman (a).
